Carbon Reduction Plan

June 2024

Broadway Malyan is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Broadway Malyan’s baseline emission year is 2022-2023. This is the organisation’s first reporting period.

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets. We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next 7 years to 348.38 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 55%

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The environmental management measures and projects are being planned to reduce our carbon impact against the 2022-2023 baseline in the short term. The 3-yr predicted carbon reduction impact through these schemes are approximately 65 tCO2e, a 11%ge reduction against the baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract. These measures include

  1. Switching of energy suppliers to our offices to be sourced from renewable energy and phasing our gas heating.
  2. Working with the landlords of our offices to improve energy efficiency of the offices
  3. Behavioural changes such as wearing season appropriate clothing, monitoring heating & cooling setpoints etc.
  4. Conduct supply chain engagement to liaise, improve systems and data collection methods
  5. Internal training in for all locations in carbon reduction measures

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as low carbon travel planning, planning to reduce home working impacts, occupancy-based assessments and office space rationalisation, ensuring lease contracts include green clauses, and choosing efficient buildings when moving offices and improving waste and water management processes.
