Great design should have a strong narrative. Something to excite, inspire and engage with the people who will be the end users. This section highlights some of our projects that we feel have an interesting story behind, whether it is to do with the original big idea, our process or the final result.

Waitrose Chester
Chester, UK
A subtle addition to a heritage listed site
Waitrose’s new flagship store in Chester marks the first phase in developing the city’s new Central Business Quarter. Blending seamlessly into its urban setting, the design features bronze metal cladding elements that echo the site’s industrial heritage, while harmonising with the surrounding brick architecture.
The building alignment and public realm, which includes a new pedestrian bridge, are designed to enhance views of the Grade II* listed Shot Tower and former lead works, giving the area a renewed urban purpose and inviting people to explore the site.
