Algarve Shopping has undergone an impressive €8.2 million refurbishment, transforming it into a vibrant and engaging destination for visitors of all ages, offering much more than a traditional retail experience.
The design strategy for the scheme prioritised enhancing the overall visitor experience through a series of interventions aimed at creating a strong sense of community, including free access to leisure and entertainment.
The scheme centres around a shopping “promenade” concept, a design approach that seamlessly integrates retail, play and leisure facilities. Thoughtfully designed seating and gathering areas are set within a landscape of lush greenery, enchanting water features and shade structures, enhancing wellbeing and mitigating heat stress.
Strategic design elements enhance the sense of place, with a whimsical bespoke climbing stork, inspired by the Algarve Shopping logo, serving as the scheme's symbolic centrepiece. This playful and unexpected feature sparks imagination, creating a memorable and engaging arrival experience at the mall.
