Head of Bid Management

Broadway Malyan is seeking a Head of Bid Management to provide strategic leadership for the bids function across the company. This role includes direct responsibility for bid responses in the North and South of the UK, as well as offering support and guidance to bids managed by other international studios within the group.
Initially, the priority focus will be on supporting the bid function for UK/MEA which includes bids for masterplanning prospects in the Middle East. The focus will be subject to review over time as the UK bid function becomes fit for purpose. KPIs will be mutually agreed upon appointment and will be subject to review.
This role will also support the ESG/Non-financial reporting function within the organisation, in the development of shared company assets.
Roles and responsibilities
Bids
- Hold senior responsibility for bid management in the BM Group
- Research, track and guide BM responses to bids including RFQs, EOIs and other invited responses/ business opportunities
- Work with the Business Development function identifying opportunities in line with the Business Strategy and BM core competencies and skills offer
- Contribute advance knowledge of likely forthcoming opportunities based on industry experience and contacts
- Work with selected account leads across the group to manage key accounts.
- Relay opportunities to the Senior Management team, advising on opportunities, win strategy and Go/No Go protocol, based on skills and resources available
- Establish and implement a project delivery plan for each bid
- Manage reporting of bid progress by sector discipline and location with regular updates to the Senior Management team
- Develop a supporting bid team scaled appropriately to the needs of the business – including bid management and DTP functions as required
Assets
- Work with the Group Director of Communications on understanding the strategic direction of the business, key skills and projects, and available marketing collateral tailored to a range of media.
- Lead on the creation and maintenance of Bid Assets including qualifications, CVs, policy statements and statutory documentation, liaising with Senior Management colleagues as appropriate. Existing assets to be used as a starting point.
- Contribute pro-actively to non-financial reporting information (including ESG) for company reporting and external profiling purposes
- Support and advise bid applications in other studios (beyond UK South and North) where the bid submission will be “owned” locally but benefit from input from the UK
Required skills and experience
- Extensive track record in the delivery of bids for construction or comparable sectors
- Sound knowledge of the UK development and construction industry (additional international experience desirable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Project management skills
- Excellent reporting and record-keeping skills
- Ability to lead and manage a bid team to meet deadlines
- Understanding of asset manipulation and layout processes to lead bid production
- Software skills to access CRM, and other appropriate design and administrative tools
