Ian joined Broadway Malyan in 1999 and was appointed group CEO in 2019 having previously held positions leading the practice’s Middle East and UK divisions.
As CEO Ian has overall responsibility for the day to day management of the global practice and chair’s the main Holdings Board’s Executive Committee.
An architect by profession, Ian’s background is in the design of complex, mixed-use schemes in the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. This has included Broadway Malyan’s work on the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) Future Schools Programme and numerous high-profile residential schemes in the UK.
With a passionate interest in the challenges facing a fast-developing world, Ian focuses on the social and cultural as well as the technical aspects of design and internally he is currently driving the agenda to make the practice a more sustainable and responsible business, which included leading the transition of the practice in 2016 to become and employee-owned business.
